- does this belong together??
To learn from the rain forest and nature, means to perfect recycling. What does that mean? Dirty wastes and magnificent plant world - how does that fit together? It does. If you look at an original rain forest you will be fascinated from the enormous quantities of biomass, nutrients, and converted energy. Everything seems to be plentifully available, however, the nutrients necessary for this plant life do not originate from the soil - which is usually poor in nutrients – but rather from a perfect recycling of existing resources.
Everything that nature in the rain forest does not need right away, and which it discards by dropping it onto the ground, is immediately and almost completely recycled into new nutrients. Thus, the growth and development process does not primarily depend on supplies of new materials from the outside, but rather stems from the almost perfect use of the existing resources. To close the cycle of matter is an art, which is demonstrated to us in an almost picture-perfect way by nature (www.faszination-regenwald.de).
China’s and India’s hunger for raw material, population growth, scarce resources, protection of the environment – these are some popular phrases and key words in our everyday life. And again, what does that have to do with the rain forest?
If we want to meet the requirements of today’s living, we must learn from nature and also optimize our recycling of valuable material. On a small scale everyone must contribute to the responsibility as a whole. On the large scale we, and the recycling industry help to complete the cycle. Especially in the area of recycling, and especially in Germany, great success has been obtained during the last years. In Germany, we meanwhile have reached a recycling ratio of more than 60 % for many types of important wastes, and in steel recycling we have even surpassed that ratio.
We, the THYSSEN ALFA are part of the TSR, Europe largest steel recycler. As THYSSEN ALFA we service, at present with 17 companies, the State of Bavaria, as well as adjacent areas. And we continue to grow. We are not only dealing in scrap iron, but also work with a multiplicity of other materials, which today are properly recycles rather than just disposing of them as was customary in the past. In this way, we make an effort to constantly function a little bit more like a rain forest and to become more responsible in the protection of the environment. If you want to help us with this, and if you want to become a part of this system, we are there to answer your questions at any time.
